I made my way through HEB, WalMart, Drug Emporium, Natural Grocers and Market Street looking for Whole 30 approved items.
This is not even close to a complete list of W30 approved items. I hope it does show you that, even in Abilene, at our local grocery stores, you can find what you need to be successful during these 30 days!
Also, HUGE SHOUT OUT to Veronica for finding this Whole 30 app: 30 WHOLE DAYS …. This might be the best $2.99 you spend this month. You can search ingredients, brands or scan bar codes to see if a product meets W30 criteria. WHAT?!?!

….. It was too cumbersome to post pics on here …. so I went straight to albums on FaceBook.
HEB
WalMart
Natural Grocers
Market Street
Drug Emporium
There are also online grocery options! I’ve never done online groceries, but it could be super convenient! The best part is not having to waste time reading labels. You can search Whole 30 right on their sites and shop from there. Easy!!
Of course there is Amazon.
But also:
Thrive Market. There is a membership for Thrive, but it has amazing reviews as an online grocer with good prices.
Barefoot Provisions.
The Simple Grocer. They are based in west Texas! And, besides pantry items, have meat choices too!
Online meat and seafood:
US Wellness meats. Beef, chicken, pork, bison, seafood. Ethically raised. Probably the highest quality meat you can buy anywhere.
Vital Choice Seafood. Mostly seafood, but also meat proteins. Also sustainable and ethically raised.
Remember, don’t get sucked in to buying all these Whole 30 specialty items. The whole idea is that you are eating whole foods!!! Shop the perimeter of the grocery store. Veggies, fruits, meats and seafood. Then go to the aisles for some of those pantry basics. Real food first.
Quick pep talk …. you are an adult. You choose what to eat. Saying you don’t like vegetables is ridiculous. You are an adult. Eat the vegetables. Hone your cooking skills. You may not like boiled cabbage, but have you tried roasted cabbage?
If this is your first time eliminate processed foods and sugar it is hard. You will have days you don’t feel good. Real food tastes different. Your palate is use to high salt, high sugar processed crap. BUT …. your palate WILL change!!! And, just like when a baby starts eating whole foods, you have to try things more than once. Tastes change and adapt. What seemed bitter or unsweet at first, may be perfectly balanced next time you try it. Be patient.
I will finish my shopping lists as soon as I can.
Are y’all ready??? Whole 30 is happening!!!!
